Below is a list of requirements in order for the members of the graduating class to receive a diploma from the New York City Department of Education. Please check with your Guidance Counselor to make sure you are on track for graduation and what Regents exams you require to fulfill your academic goals.

Part I - Graduation Requirements

  • 8 English Credits in required English Classes
  • 8 History Credits in required History Classes
    • 4 Global
    • 2 US History
    • 1 Economics
    • 1 Government
  • 6 Math Credits (Must have at least 2 CR Higher Math. Ex: Geometry/Algebra II)
  • 6 Science Credits (inc. lab)
    • 2 in Life Science
    • 2 in Physical Science
    • 2 additional Life or Physical Science
  • 2 credits of Language for a Local Diploma or Regents Diploma
  • 6 credits of Language for an Advanced Regents Diploma
  • 8 terms of Physical Education
    • 4 Credits Physical Education
    • 1 credit for Health
      • *P.E. and Health are BOTH requirements for graduation
      • Each student must complete 4.00 Credits of Physical Education/Gym
      • 1 P.E. Credit Per Academic Year
  • 7 elective credits

Part II - Regents Requirements

Regents Diploma

Score 65 or above on 5 Regents exams and earn 44 units of credit.

  • The 5 Regents Needed (4+1)
    • English (80= College Ready)
    • 1 Social Studies
    • 1 Math (80= College Ready)
    • 1 Science
    • 1 Additional Social Studies, Math or Science

Advanced Regents Diploma

Score 65 or above on 9 Regents exams and earn 44 units of credit.

  • 6 Credits in Foreign Language AND
  • 5 Additional Regents:
    • All 3 Math Exams
      • Algebra
      • Algebra 2/Trigonometry
      • Geometry
    • 2 Science Exams, 1 Must be Living Environment
      • Living Environment
      • Chemistry
      • Earth Science
      • Physics
      • World Language Exam

Rules and Regulations for Participating in Senior Events and Graduation
Dean's Record

Students who engage in disciplinary infractions that rise to the level of a suspension will be barred from senior activities, and could jeopardize their participation in the graduation ceremony. The DOE deems participation in the graduation ceremony a privilege. Students are therefore expected to demonstrate the behavior and attitude of good citizens.

There will be no refunds on senior activities or senior dues should such a situation develop.

Requirements for Attending

Students will be excluded from attending the Prom or any senior activities based on the following:

  1. Dean's Record — see above
  2. Not On Track to Graduate

Requirement for Participation in Graduation Ceremonies

The Office of the Chancellor has stated that:

Consistent with the need to maintain standards and to communicate to students our expectations of them: only students who have successfully completed the requirements for a high school diploma, including courses and standardized tests, will be permitted to participate in graduation ceremonies conducted by their schools. — Office of the Chancellor

Senior Dues

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Congratulations! 🎉 🎓

Your child is entering his/her last semester of high school. This will be an exciting time of transition from the familiar years of high school life to that of college and/or work. Rest assured that the faculty of our school will do all they can to support your child during this commencement year.

As Senior Advisor, I will work with you and your child to plan for a memorable senior year. This letter is to initiate the ongoing communication that I will be providing to you about activities and events scheduled. The following is an overview of the senior activities and related costs.

Graduation Requirements: 44 credits and a passing score of 65% or better on all required Regents examinations. Please be mindful of your child's academic credits and maintain a running record.
Grad Package #1 $220.00

You may begin paying immediately upon returning to school. You must submit dues to Ms. Beeson in room 450A, 4th period ONLY. You must come in person to submit the dues and be sure to bring your student ID. Payments can be made in full or as partial payments per the schedule below. Senior dues cover the following senior expenses:

  • Yearbook
  • Cap and Gown
  • Graduation Expenses
  • Graduation Tickets
  • Senior Winter Apparel
  • Senior T-Shirt
  • Senior Gifts
  • Senior Breakfast
  • Senior BBQ
  • Diploma Case
If your child does not pay their dues, they will not be able to participate in senior activities, nor will they receive their cap & gown, yearbook, and/or other senior apparel ordered. You will be responsible for the above items.
This is mandatory to participate in senior activities.
Grad Package #2 $100.00

Package includes: Cap and Gown, Graduation Tickets, Graduation Expenses, and Diploma Case.

Students will not be permitted to purchase tickets to Senior Trip or the Senior Prom unless their dues are paid or a deposit has been made.
